Bay Area Wilderness Training has been a solid part of the Bay Area outdoor world since its inception in 1999. Through its hard work, more than 20,000 youth have been afforded the opportunity to get outside and experience the outdoors firsthand. BAWT has grown to serve kids in the East Bay from its headquarters in Oakland, in San Francisco and the peninsula at the Presidio through its Camping at the Presidio (CAP) Program, and the entire South Bay region from its office in Milpitas.
BAWT is a non-profit that relies on donors and adventure fundraising programs like Backpacking for Kids. Through Backpacking for Kids, you raise funds, we give you gear donated by our generous sponsors, then you hit the trail for an exciting experience in the backcountry. The money raised goes to training and supplying gear to youth workers to help them get youth outdoors- most of them for the first time! So, grab a backpack and hit the trail with Backpacking for Kids!
